Divisions - Sheriff's Office

The Union County Sheriff's Office is composed of a sheriff, captain, lieutenants, sergeants, corporals, sworn deputies, directors, communications officers and civilian personnel. The Sheriff's office has four (4) separate divisions: Administration, Investigations (includes the Community Relations Bureau), Patrol (includes the Court Services Bureau), and Communications.

  1. The Administrative Division is supervised by a Lieutenant whose primary responsibility is to provide general management direction and control of the Administrative Division.  The Administrative Division's primary role is to support the functioning of all other divisions of the office by establishing, facilitating and monitoring the agency's budgets and accounts, as well as providing for personnel needs, training coordination, and technological services. The Administrative Division consists of a Director, H.R. Manager, Accounts Payable Clerk, Training Coordinator, Network Administrator, and 9-1-1 Coordinator. The Administrative Division will also oversee all grant applications, quarterly and yearly reports, quarterly newsletters.
  2. The Patrol Division is commanded by a Captain, whose primary responsibility is to provide general management direction and control for the Patrol Division, Court Services Bureau, and Special Response Team (SRT). The Patrol Division consists of a Lieutenant, three Sergeants, three Corporals, all uniformed patrol deputies, the County Dog Warden and the Multi-County Crash Investigations Team. The Court Services Bureau is commanded by a Sergeant whose primary responsibility is to provide general management, direction and control of the Court Services Bureau. The Court Services Sergeant oversees the security of the Justice Center and Court House, Civil Process, transportation of prisoners, Records Keepers, Sexual Offender Registration and the issuance of revocation of Concealed Carry Licenses.
  3. The Investigations Division is commanded by a Lieutenant, whose primary responsibility is to provide general management direction and control for the Investigations Bureau. The Investigations Bureau consists of the Crime Analysis Unit, Special Operations Bureau (HNT, SUAS) and the Multi-Agency Drug Enforcement (M.A.D.E.) Task Force as well as the Community Relations Bureau. The Community Relations Bureau (Community Outreach) is commanded by a Sergeant whose primary responsibility is to provide general management direction and control of the Community Relations Bureau. The Community Relations Bureau consists of the Community Education Bureau, the Special Deputy Bureau and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) and K-9 Operations.
  4. The Communications Division is commanded by a Director whose primary responsibility is to provide general management direction and control of the Communications Division. The Communications Division consist of three Communications Supervisors and Communications Operators who serve as 9-1-1 Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Operators.
