DEPUTY SHERIFF

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is seeking driven, community-minded candidates for Deputy Sheriff positions, including OPOTA-certified officers, lateral transfers, and cadets beginning their law enforcement career.

Deputy Sheriffs serve the community through proactive patrol, professional response to calls for service, thorough investigations, and consistent, lawful enforcement.

ROLE OVERVIEW

A Deputy Sheriff serves the public by:

  • Responding to calls for service with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Conducting patrol and proactive problem-solving in assigned areas
  • Enforcing laws and ordinances in a lawful, consistent manner
  • Preparing clear, accurate reports and documentation
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies and the community

PAY & BENEFITS

Salary range: $36.37 - $45.03 (based on Collective Bargaining Agreement)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • U.S. citizen
  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

Training and development are essential to safe and effective policing. The Sheriff’s Office supports continued growth through structured onboarding and professional development.

SCHEDULING & PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

This is a public safety environment with 24/7/365 coverage. Schedules may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
