The Union County Building Department has agreements with all municipalities to provide commercial and residential building code enforcement except Unionville Center, Plain City (incorporated areas), and the City of Dublin. The Dublin Building Department is the regulatory authority within the incorporated area of Dublin. Marysville, Richwood, Milford Center and Magnetic Springs have all contracted with Union County for building code services. The Union County Health Department's plumbing inspectors handle all areas within Union county. West Jefferson Building Department is the permitting authority for work inside Plain City (incorporated areas).
