About Us

The City of Marysville, Marysville Exempted Village School District, and Union County officially formed the Union County Council of Governments (UCCOG) in 2012. The members found it necessary to expend ever increasing amounts of resources towards technology, including: Internet service, data center expenditures, IT personnel, fiber optic cabling to connect buildings, VoIP phone systems, and many other IT related services. The UCCOG have been able to break down the silos that often exist in local governments by working together in an innovative and collaborative way. By creating the UCCOG for collaborative opportunities, the consortium has been able to bring new technology, a shared services philosophy and shared expertise to each entity, while meeting the current and future needs of their customers and staff in a more efficient manner. UCCOG collaborative successes include the building of a redundant consolidated fiber network that connects all member buildings and strengthens offsite backup and disaster recovery site availability for all three entities.

In addition to technology collaboration, the County, City and School District have recently begun to offer the following services:

  • Cooperative Purchasing Agreements:  Leveraging their joint purchasing power, the UCCOG seeks to bargain with suppliers for lower cost supplies, equipment, fuel, energy and services, and to enter into other agreements to benefit each party and thereby being effective stewards of taxpayer dollars.
  • Partnerships For ISP Services:  Leveraging their jointly managed fiber optic infrastructure in the Marysville area and in portions of Union County, the UCCOG seeks to enter into partnerships with area ISP providers in order to enhance ISP service offerings in the Marysville area and Union County.Â
